How seeing God helps you live out your true self

I’ve realized some things. All that we encompass. All that is within us is meant to be poured out for good. I think we each have a small voice inside us- whispering. Whispering true colours, life anthems, light, the voice deep down. If I know this whisper draws out the best person in me, what am I waiting for? If this person, this surrounding, this habit, this talent is the best form of me- what am I waiting for?

....we find what we’re made of- through the open door. Is it fear you’re afraid of? What are you waiting for- love alone is worth the fight.”
-Switchfoot

Whatever you call that thing that lies dormant inside of you- that needs to be awakened. We need to see it. Express it.

Regardless if you are a creative type, an introvert. Whatever barrier you want to name for yourself, the whispers of your soul are meant not just for you, but for others, for the full satisfaction of God your creator. You are a living legend right now. You are a living legend waiting to happen as you explore the depths within and listen. But more than just listen you sing, you dance, you write, you paint, you design, you read, you engineer, you doctor. But don’t let your job title define you- be more than that.

Each piece of music has its own space and time. Each generation it’s own melody. This exploration of what it means to fully live comes with its discipline. Discipline conquerors laziness and results in accomplishment in the end.

The decision of discipline

Music has the role of singing over us what we feel.

I have favourite genres of music, majority are the same ones I stick to, but essentially my CHOICE of music comes down to my MOOD. My emotions affect how I handle and what I produce in a day.

I’m all about listening to the heartbeat of the day. But if athletes decided they didn’t feel like working out today, they wouldn’t be successful in their field.

The emotions I express today, are part of the determining factors of tomorrow.

St. Irenaeus of Lyons, a bishop in France, once said: The glory of God gives life; those who see God receive life. For this reason God, who cannot be grasped, comprehended or seen, allows himself to be seen, comprehended and grasped by men, that he may give life to those who see and receive him. It is impossible to live without life, and the actualization of life comes from participation in God, while participation in God is to see God and enjoy his goodness. Men will therefore see God if they are to live; through the vision of God they will become immortal and attain to God himself. As I have said, this was shown in symbols by the prophets: God will be seen by men who bear his Spirit and are always waiting for his coming. As Moses said in the Book of Deuteronomy: On that day we shall see, for God will speak to man, and man will live.

This quest for living

This quest for the compass of our souls, it all stems from knowing God. Is life worth living? Some would think otherwise. That is the sadness that confronts an individual that means to take his own life. A hope has been lost; the proof that life is not worth living. Life isn’t going to all beautifully for you. But this life, that is misunderstood, given away, lost, frustrated, confusing. This life is messy, but as St. Irenaeus says, those who see God receive life. So, how do you see God? Not a physical being - yet he is embodied by so much that is seen on this earth. Creation, people, faces, personality, mountains, trees, rivers, streams, laughter, smiles, everything good in this world is God. So, love what God loves, participate in what God is doing and receive life.

Let your thoughts think about him. Make your extra time desired to learn about him. This doesn’t mean that your entire music library needs to be on Hillsong auto-repeat. Yet, as you spend time reading the bible, devotional books, listening to worship, engaging in spiritual community God slowly breathes life into your life. Your daily coming and going has deeper meaning and significance. You are experiencing life on God’s terms.

When we announce our limitations, that is where the real growth begins

Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Romans 8: 5-7

Journeying with God reveals your true self, and He helps you live that out. There is a reason you are made the way you are. You are your own music genre- stop changing that for the popularity contest.

The whisper, the walk, the discipline. It all leads to life.

Paul McCartney quoted that he finds when he gives, he gets.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make -The Beatles

Make good. Stay disciplined. It’s life we are talking about.
